State News alum Kelley L. Carter is being honored by the College of Communication Arts & Sciences with its 2010 CAS Rising Star Alumni Award.

Elrick, part of the team that investigated former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, and former Detroit Free Press columnist Jim Fitzgerald will join more than 40 members of the Hall of Fame.

The State News is a finalist for a potential 17th Pacemaker and in six other categories in this year's Associated Collegiate Press awards competition.

S'News alum Steve Eder, a reporter at the Toledo Blade, is a finalist for the Livingston Awards for Young Journalists.

S'News alum M.L. Elrick is part of a Detroit Free Press reporting team awarded a Pulitzer Prize for bringing down corrupt Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
