Journalism professor Lucinda Davenport, who was a member of the State News Board of Directors from 1998-2001, has been named interim director of MSU's School of Journalism. She replaces Jane Briggs-Bunting, who remains a J-School professor and also is president of the State News board.
SN wins release of some MSU police documents

An Ingham County judge has ordered the release of some police report documents related to a 2006 assault on Michigan State University's campus. The State News has battled the university for access to those documents, taking its case to the state Supreme Court.

The State News turns 100 on Tuesday. The newspaper was first published by Michigan Agricultural College students as the Holcad on March 10, 1909.
