State News alum Kelley L. Carter is being honored by the College of Communication Arts & Sciences with its 2010 CAS Rising Star Alumni Award.

Journalism professor Lucinda Davenport, who was a member of the State News Board of Directors from 1998-2001, has been named interim director of MSU's School of Journalism. She replaces Jane Briggs-Bunting, who remains a J-School professor and also is president of the State News board.
